speaking.jpgTo satisfy the needs of our membership, we are looking for speakers who can deliver interesting and insightful presentations on the application of project management techniques and methods the current and future state of the Project Management profession.

Each year, we produce ten chapter meetings with featured speakers and topics. Our monthly chapter meetings draw between 50-75 professionals from information technology, engineering, financial services, insurance, construction, bio-pharmaceutical, healthcare, government, and other industries. We are one of the fastest growing PMI chapters in our Region. Many of the larger companies in the Long Island / NYC area are represented and our chapter has over 500 certified Project Management Professionals (PMPs) and growing. The speakers and their presentation topics are advertised on our Web site and in our news email which serves our over 850 members.

The Process

Once an interested speaker has offered to become a presenter at a PMI Long Island chapter general meeting, our Vice President of Programs will contact them. The VP of Programs helps interested speakers understand our audience and determine whether the speaker has a relevant and interesting presentation that will satisfy our audience. The VP of Programs selects presentations that cover project management knowledge areas of high interest to our audience. We also have guidelines for presentation materials to ensure that the visuals punctuate the presentation and can be read by audience members seated further back in the venue. Presentations are scheduled to offer variety and satisfy the interests of our membership.
